The “back to the office” period can be a hard time to stay productive as the summer thoughts of ice cold beers by the sea can lure you away from your desk. But there are steps that can be taken in order to stay productive or even increase productivity. So, whether at home or still holidaying in one of the many Mykonos hotels, here are TutorialChip’s top five tips for avoiding those memories of summer sun temptations and staying productive.
1. Get Plenty of Sleep
It might sound silly but one of the best ways to remain productive is to be unproductive. We don’t mean sitting at your desk idly doing nothing watching the world go by and dreaming of what else you would rather be doing. No, we mean getting into a routine that starts with a regular bed time and ends with a sensible bed time. In between, try and keep your lunchtime regular too. If you do this right, then your natural body clock will meet you in the middle, knowing full well what you expect of it.
2. Sign Up to an Online Course
So maybe you have downed tools for the summer holidays and have shut down your laptop but being the active person that you are, many days into your summer break makes you bored. One good idea to combat this is to use the time to learn something new. This could be a local community course, or it could be signing up to something online. There are loads of great ways to learn on the internet that either be through live video or email and they can take as long or as little as you need. Some of them might even be free.
3. Eat and Drink Well
A good diet is incredibly important for maintaining your current levels of productivity. While all well in moderation, a high fat, sugar and salt diet can be problematic when it comes to concentration. So too is it the case with alcohol. In fact, speaking of drinks, it is important to also stay hydrated and most of us do not drink anywhere near as much water as we should. Naturally, fruits and vegetables, and plenty of them, are very good for us too. In all, a good nutritional diet and lifestyle when it comes to our consumption choices is vital to achieving our productivity goals.
4. Physical and Mental Exercise
Studies show that exercise can improve your mental capacity. This can include important functions such as faster learning, better concentration levels as well as an upgraded memory. Depending on the weather, you could choose to do whatever activity suits best.
For instance, in the autumn take it easy with a less active sport such as yoga, aerobics or treating yourself to a massage at the spa. At the very least wait until the sun starts to set before going for a run. Swimming is as good a form of exercise as anything and can be done indoors or outside at your preference. Speaking of indoor activities there are strategies such as chess or poker that have also been known to help improve productivity.
5. Continue to Work Remotely (In Luxury)
Just because you have enjoyed a nice holiday doesn’t mean that you can’t still earn the money to pay for your next trip. It goes without saying that, while understanding every family is working to a different budget, the nicer the resort, the easier it will be to take your work with you, if that is indeed what you want to do.
This way you will get to work with better tech facilities and in more comfort too. That is certainly the case with Adorno Suites on the beautiful Greek island of Mykonos. Work can be undertaken either by the sea, the swimming pool, in one of the many on suite rooms, the bar or even over breakfast before you get into your day. They even have a workspace with a PC available. The point is a relaxed mind will be more functional and this is a great way to achieve this.
